Developing software for cars is particularly challenging and often referred to as “hardcore embedded”. Over the years Ethernet has become the major communication technology in modern vehicles. As an Ethernet Enthusiast at ESR Labs, you are involved in demanding projects in cooperation with leading automotive OEMs, developing software that ensures network communication within control devices used in world-renowned vehicle brands. You take over responsibilities for software engineering and system integration within the Ethernet domain - down from the physical layer up to the TCP/IP stack. No matter if you are a recognized specialist in your niche or a jack-of-all-trades, you should have a passion for Ethernet!

Responsibilities

  • +

    TCP/IP stack development and integration

  • +

    Driver development for Ethernet controllers and/or devices

  • +

    System integration and configuration of automotive Ethernet switches

  • +

    Communication with customers or third-party suppliers

Required Skills

  • +

    Completed degree in Information Technology or comparable education

  • +

    Profound experience with Ethernet topologies and TCP/IP protocols

  • +

    Substantial knowledge of C++ and at least one scripting language (e.g. Python, Ruby)

  • +

    Know-how in embedded software development

  • +

    Good problem-solving skills

  • +

    Excellent command of English

Preferred Experience

  • +

    Background in automotive sector

  • +

    Automotive Ethernet switches (e.g. Broadcom, Marvell, Realtek)

  • +

    IP routing, filtering and firewalls (Layer 4)

  • +

    Low-level interfaces like MDIO, SPI, xMII

  • +

    TCP/IP stacks (preferably lwIP)

  • +

    IPv6 and related protocols like ICMPv6 and DHCPv6

  • +

    Precision Time Protocol, QoS and Traffic Shaping

  • +

    Spirent TestCenter on C50 Appliance
